The RCTimer telemetry system is based on the telemetry system from 3DRobotics and is 100% compatible with the ArduPilot Mega (APM) and ArduFlyer autopilots. The system was designed as an open source Xbee replacement radio set, offering a lower price, longer range (up to approximately one mile) and superior performance to Xbee radios. The RCTimer telemetry system operates at 915Mhz which is part of the unlicensed ISM (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical) band in the US. The system includes a serial board (for the air) and USB board (for the ground). The system provides a full-duplex link using HopeRF HM-TRP modules running custom, open source firmware. Interface to the module is via standard 5V-tolerant TTL serial / FTDI USB serial.
Firmware upgrades and configuration are fully supported in the APM Mission Planner. Configuration is also possible through the radio configurator (download link below) and AT commands.
